Investors Support Quarterly Reporting

CFA Institute surveyed its members in 2026 and 2019 on many aspects of quarterly reporting, including whether it should be eliminated in favor of semiannual reporting, whether the required filings should be replaced solely with an earnings release process, and whether less frequent reporting would foster more long-term decision-making among companies and investors. Their response: No.

See the draft version of our 2026 survey report and our preliminary comment letter to the SEC on its 2026 Semiannual Reporting Proposed Rule – as well as the 2019 report - to get investor perspectives on this important issue as the SEC considers the most sweeping changes to public company reporting in a generation.
