EU Policy

The European Union agenda on the financial sector focuses on the development of the capital markets sector in the EU while boosting investor protection. Economic and financial trends and developments have led to periodic reviews by EU co-legislators.

Over the years, CFA Institute has provided its insights to the European Commission, European Parliament, the European Supervisory Authorities and other European and national institutions, advocating for the safeguard of investor interests and support for market integrity in European financial markets.

Our EU regulatory outreach starts well in advance of the European Commission introducing new legislative proposals. In the early stages, CFA Institute actively engages with the publication of original research and seeks input from CFA charterholders regarding related issues within their local market.

Upon the publication of EU legislative proposals, CFA Institute provides its perspectives on the proposed legislative measures by publishing new research, issuing comment letters and participating in regulatory meetings with both EU and national institutions.

After the law comes into force, CFA Institute engages with EU and national regulators by sharing examples and case studies concerning the practical implementation of EU legislation across different EU markets.
