This is a great article, and so true. Having been a portfolio manager for many years and having worked with discretionary and non-discretionary consultants in many different capacities, I can totally agree with this premise. I have also seen the "excess complexity" asset allocation problem with individual investors who use a financial consultant, but that conflict of interest is probably more evident since it is discretionary management. Anyway........ great read.
