I strongly disagree with your idea to markup the Equity on the Balance Sheet to Market values. If you want to know that $$ just go to any website posting share$ stats. Don't muck up historical accounting.

While you may not use historical accounting I certainly do ... particularly the Shareholder Equity section. While it is easy to argue how the $$ are stale in total, what matters to me is the CHANGE in numbers yr over yr ... which is not stale. This is where I find all the stuff happening that is not on the income statement, and not on the Discussion blurbs, and not on the Cash Flow Stmt.
