Should there EVER be a bear market, the perils of indexing will appear, and when recognized, probably compound themselves. We take for granted, for example, the ability of a huge index fund to maintain a portfolio that actually represents its index. To do so while facing redemptions in a rapidly falling market may merely accelerate a decline. “Sell? Sell to whom?”
