Clearly this is Amazon's plan. But unlike some other businesses that created and used monopolistic practices for years (e.g. Microsoft) it will be much more difficult for Amazon to act the same way. Creating a near monopoly in the retail sector can become a much more political question (especially if it is worldwide) Vs retaining monopoly in the software sector.

Smart investor can capitalize on the monopoly narrative and the associated strength of Amazon's share price to reduce their Amazon position. No question Jeff Bezos proofed and continues to proof he is one of the smartest investors around.
