Thanks for the comments, Rod. I have to say on second look, I agree with you. The language should have been much more accessible. For clarity, a non-contracted denial doesn't use contractions, ie "I did not do it," as opposed to "I didn't do it." And the prime example of distancing language is Bill Clinton with "that woman" as opposed to Monica Lewinsky, and asymmetrical sneering just means the face is all crooked.
