Is there any reliable data that takes withholding taxes into consideration? Since Americans buy a lot of stocks through retirement accounts, and taxes withheld on dividends for European stocks aren't offset on U.S. Income taxes - doesn't it make sense that U.S. investors would lean towards purchasing U.S. stocks?
