This is a great article. I recently paid off my student loans and am now saving toward my son's education. This is a tricky issue, you don't want to discourage higher education, but some degrees are just not worth the loans. I know people who took out $30,000 in student loan debt to get a Nursing Assistant certificate which pays like $12/hour. In my opinion, this kind of debt will not pay off at that wage. I think it would be interesting to investigate how much a degree is actually worth.
