Investors should look at Africa from the standpoint of actual investment in production because that is where the opportunities are. For a young continent with a population of 1 billion, Africa provides energetic and inexpensive labor often cheaper than in many South-east Asian countries including in China. Ethiopia for example is now attracting significant Chinese investment in textiles and shoes for export to the United States.
