I'm mildly obsessed by lower priced products that are superior in qualitative dimensions to higher priced products. For example the sunglass aficionado knows that the 200 pounds Chanel glasses make no sense compared to the 200 Baht ones if the cheaper ones can be lost, stolen, broken and renewed giving that "new sunglasses" feel once a week if need be. There are other examples but they're usually for products that most people aren't familiar with (such as local food ingredients) so the shades example stands but there's a lot of nuance for all examples such as the low cost and rising quality of cheap designer shades make them now almost ubiquitous.

Thought provoking post. I must ponder it over my porridge morning.
