I've read lots of books about investing. Until recently, the most down-to-earth and useful ones I had read were by Prof Aswath Damodaran and Jason Zweig. Then I bought "Investing de-mystified" a couple of weeks ago.

I am very impressed. Mr Kroijer's approach is absolutely straightforward and logical: if you've got an "edge", off you go and get rich but if you haven't got an edge, it's nothing to be ashamed of, accept it and become a "rational investor".

Then he explains very logically and patiently and in detail how the "rational investor" can make money by reducing trading costs, fund expenses, tax, etc. and how to tailor one's portfolio for an appropriate horizon and level of risk aversion.

The only small criticism I have is of the publishers, not of Mr Kroijer. I felt that the book should have been more carefully proof-read, there are quite a lot of typos and misplaced punctuation.
