Excellent review, and one of my favorite books. My only comment is that I would suggest that Geoff Colvin's "Talent is Overrated" is more in line with the success of these managers than is Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers". Briefly, Gladwell attributes a large component of outlier success to one's environment whereas Colvin more so to "deliberate practice" and the 10,000 hours concept.
Both are likely components of their success, but I would suggest the success of these managers is more attributable to dedication and hard work rather than being in the right place at the right time
