The best investor I covered as an institutional fixed income salesman was a US manager of both taxable and exempt portfolios. On particularly volatile days (big announcement, or some outside event that roiled markets) he would leave the office for the day, feeling that any long term changes could still be made but eliminating the temptation to react hastily in a knee-jerk fashion.
