This is a great way of summarizing the JPM fiasco. Would it be stretch to characterize this as a gamble on both sides of the market that went wrong? It was definitely not a hedge.

Somehow I can't believe how this trader and the people he works with failed to recognize both basis and liquidity risk involved.
