A lot of analysis is done on projected sales, margins, cash flow, profits, market share, exit multiples and so on. However many a times, analysts and investors tend to forget aspects like discretionary spending for the future (advertising, R&D spend), pricing and other business decisions (whether exploitative or symbiotic value additive), capital allocation (whether and how is cash re-invested / returned to investors). In many cases, these ignored factors may be better indicators of future shareholder returns as compared to predicting the next quarter's earnings accurately. The talk will focus on some of these aspects with real world case studies.
