Career Insights: Quantitative Investing

  1. Abhishek Dhall, CFA
  2. Kishor Bagri, CFA

Quantitative analysts or “quants” use a variety of data to build algorithms and computer models following mathematical and statistical approaches. Thanks to advances in computing technology, quant investing has flourished over the past two decades. Automated trading strategies dominate financial markets today and smart beta factor investing has taken off commercially. Meanwhile, newer approaches using big data are gaining acceptance as more data becomes available digitally.

Although these are explicitly quant approaches, quantitative techniques in varying degrees are used by almost all investment firms. This is trend will only accelerate in the future. Truly, we are all quants now.

Against this backdrop, this webinar looks at the dynamics of quantitative investing and helps us explore career opportunities in this attractive discipline.

Learning outcomes:

  • Gain an overview of the quantitative investing landscape
  • Learn about career opportunities for CFA® charterholders and candidates
