Shareholder activism has increased in Asia during the past 10 years as a result of changes in regulations and listing rules to provide more equitable shareholder treatment than in the past. Minority shareholders and institutional investors also have increased their efforts to foster good governance at publicly listed companies and exercise their rights as shareholders.
