Marcus holds a master of science in advanced analytics and decision sciences and a bachelor of business science in finance from the University of Cape Town. His research has been presented at the 2025 World Finance Conference in Malta and the 2026 World Finance & Banking Symposium in Riga. He has worked as a founder, chief technology officer, and machine learning researcher, scaling research applications to support millions of daily requests. His research interests include spatial econometrics, representation learning, functional data analysis, and information geometry. His work focuses on spatial arbitrage and the application of foundation models and self-supervised learning to portfolio risk management.
