Dr. Heiko Opfer has more than 25 years of experience in asset management. Most recently, he served as managing director at Apo Asset Management GmbH until May 2026. Previously, he spent 13 years at Deka Investment, where he led quantitative asset allocation and portfolio insurance, overseeing two teams responsible for approximately €25 billion in multi-asset, capital-preservation, and overlay mandates. Earlier in his career, he led risk management and global tactical asset allocation. His research has been published in The European Journal of Finance and the Journal of Risk, and he has contributed chapters to Risk-Based and Factor Investing (ISTE Press/Elsevier) and Geschäftsfelder des Investmentbanking (Schäffer-Poeschel).
