Daniel Garrett , PhD
Biography
Dan is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Wharton School, where he teaches corporate finance and conducts research on issues in corporate and public finance. His work frequently leverages quasi-experimental methods to examine questions relevant to the design of efficient fiscal and regulatory policy, with a particular focus on how public entities raise funds, primarily through bond issuance and taxation, and how those financing mechanisms affect businesses, consumers, investors, and workers. His research has recently been published in the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Economic Studies, and other leading academic journals.
Dan earned both an MA and a PhD in economics from Duke University. He received a BSc in economics from Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College and, prior to graduate school, worked as a tax analysis professional at the Ohio Department of Taxation and as a research associate at the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.
