Dr. Wolfgang Bessler is currently Professor of Finance at the University of Hamburg and Emeritus Professor of Finance and Banking at the Justus-Liebig University Giessen. Before he was a Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Syracuse University as well as Visiting Professor at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, at Auckland University of Technology, and at the University of Groningen.

Wolfgang is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Quantitative Capital Market Research at Deka Investment and a member of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee. He serves on the Editorial Board of many international journals.

His research areas are asset management, securities markets, corporate finance & governance. Wolfgang has published more than 120 papers in leading international academic journals He has organized many international conferences and has presented more than 450 papers at academic conferences.

Wolfgang received his Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg, an M.B.A. from McGill University in Montreal and Bachelor and Master Degrees in Business Administration and Education from the University of Hamburg.
