The Research and Policy Center Celebrates Global Ethics Day
October 15, 2025
CFA Institute Research and Policy Center is proud to join Global Ethics Day once again—championing ethics as a force for good. This year’s theme, “Ethics Re-envisioned,” seeks to raise the bar.
Our Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct sets the gold standard for behavior in finance and guide our mission to lead the investment profession for the ultimate benefit of society. See “Ethics for the investment management profession.” And for the latest updates to our code, see “Revisions to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.”
But we don’t wait for one day a year to talk about ethics, we live it every day, delivering important research and advocacy on the topic. For example, our report “Continuation Funds: Ethics in Private Markets, Part I” explains how continuation funds inject liquidity into slower private markets, their upsides, and the conflicts they can create; Our “Explainable AI in Finance: Addressing the Needs of Diverse Stakeholders” report underscores that transparent, explainable AI is vital in finance — not only for regulatory compliance but also for institutional trust, ethical standards, and risk governance; And our “AI Washing: Signs, Symptoms, and Suggested Solutions for Investment Stakeholders” addresses the ethical concerns and risks of AI washing in finance, providing crucial questions for stakeholders to evaluate managers’ AI claims and ensure transparency, integrity, and the genuine application of AI in investment strategies.
Join us on Global Ethics Day. Add your voice, elevate standards, and help tackle the issues that matter most to markets and society.

CFA UK produced a set of 5 short interviews titled the “Ethics Interview Series” to hear from experienced investment practitioners about ethical considerations faced during their careers. Such real-life experiences go beyond theoretical frameworks to help members build the skills and ethos to navigate day to day issues. Each interview focussed on a thematic area, covering sustainable investing, adopting new technology, conflicts of interest, operating with integrity and putting clients first. The interviewees and interviewers were all CFA UK member volunteers.
